Fitness Instruction While On Vacation - A Good Idea For Some

Fitness Instruction

While practically unheard of a decade ago, it's now common for people to have a personal trainer who visits them at their home on a regular basis, but these people usually have had to forgo this convenience when they took a holiday. Well, now there's not even a reason to give up the convenience of using a personal trainer while you're on vacation. More and more often, vacationers can find fitness instruction while they're otherwise relaxing at a hotel, all inclusive resort, or even on a cruise ship.

Many cruise lines and luxury hotels have had gyms or fitness areas for a while, but many of them have now added the availability of a fitness training session. The Princess Diamond cruise ship has a complete gym staffed with ten fitness trainers ready to give you free workout advice or just explain how to properly use the equipment. Should you be interested in a personal one-on-one training session, you'll have to pay an hourly fee, but at twenty dollars per hour, the cost is reasonable.

Cruise lines also now offer "fitness cruises", where the entire focus in on health and fitness. In addition to the typical gym and personal training, these cruises focus on healthy dining and many times offer lectures by experts in various areas of health and fitness. This can be a great way to experiment with different workout options, and you may even discover a new fitness activity that can add a little variety to your regular routine when you get back home.

Also, many of those all-inclusive vacation resorts are now including gyms that come with personal trainers among their facilities. These trainers can provide fitness instruction while you're in the gym, or accompany you on a bike ride, run, swim, or other outdoor type of workout.

You can rest assured that any personal trainer employed in one of these top of the line resorts, hotels or cruise lines is experienced and fully credentialed and knows what they're talking about. If you currently don't work with a personal trainer, going on a vacation at a place that provides a workout facility and personal trainers is a great way to introduce yourself to the experience while away from your normal lifestyle. This way it's easier to see if supervised training might be the way for you to go once you get back to your normal daily routine.

However, if you already work out, either with or without a personal trainer, on a regular basis and have been doing so steadily, you might want to consider making your vacation an actual vacation. That is, skipping your workouts as well as your work for a week or two. Why? Well, as you probably know, your body adapts to exercise when you're resting, not when you're working out. While you should be taking days off from exercise every week anyway, most fitness experts will advise taking a week or two off every so often. What better time to rest and recharge for future workouts than while you're on vacation? Just maintain a fairly healthy diet so you're not struggling to lose an extra ten pounds when you get back to the gym.
